The Garden of Sinners Review

The Garden of Sinners (, Kara no Kyoukai) is a series of seven fully-animated theatrical movies from one of the most famous anime studios, ufotable (“Fate/Zero,” “Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]”). These films directly cover the original novel of the same name written by KINOKO NASU of TYPE-MOON.

The story revolves around Shiki Ryougi, a girl who awakened from a two-year coma to discover that she has the ability to perceive the death of all things, using her mysterious “Mystic Eyes of Death Perception.” She soon begins investigating supernatural cases at the detective agency of Touko Aozaki, Garan no Dou. Along the way, she meets Mikiya Kokutou, a boy who is always attempting to get closer to her and whom she secretly loves.

As anyone who has read the Bible will know, God created Adam and Eve upright and in His image. They were free to eat any of the trees in the garden, except for the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Eating the forbidden fruit would lead to disobedience and rebellion against God. In essence, Adam and Eve’s sin was an act of autonomy that replaced God with self. Even though they were commanded not to eat the fruit, they still did it.

It is important to understand that all sin is the same before God. Every single sin is an act of autonomy that replaces obedience with pride. God is the sovereign Lawgiver, and breaking His commandments carries serious consequences. It may seem minor that Adam and Eve ate the fruit in the garden, but it was an act of rebellion against the Lawgiver who gave them their freedom and life.

This is why it is so critical to be grounded in the Bible and understand God’s Word. The Bible provides insight into why man sinned and the consequences of their choice. It also explains why God’s commands are not arbitrary, but are based on His love for mankind and His desire to have fellowship with them.

The Garden of Sinners is a dark and twisted show that looks at all kinds of opposites. It is a world that celebrates darkness and contrast, which gives it a gothic flair that is unlike any other anime. It explores the concepts of life and death, light and darkness, normal and abnormal. Its characters are a study in the human struggle between good and evil, which is what makes it so compelling. Its unique style and atmosphere make it a standout show that should not be missed. While it is not user-friendly, and some viewers might find its themes unsettling or disturbing, the Garden of Sinners is worth a watch for its incredible visual flair and gripping narrative. Luckily, Anime Strike has released the movies on streaming services so that more people can enjoy this masterpiece.
