Gardening volunteer opportunities near me
Planting Fields welcomes volunteers of all ages and skills to help keep the gardens beautiful year-round. Volunteers work in all areas of the Garden, interacting with visitors to support their visit, answer questions and staff information tables. Volunteers enjoy strong training, ongoing educational opportunities and invitations to a wide range of special events and celebrations.
Volunteers are the heart of our GreenThumb community. We have thousands of GreenThumb members across the city who manage their own community gardens, which are located in residential neighborhoods. These gardens provide residents with a place to grow food, flowers and herbs in an urban environment. Many of these gardens also act as a gathering space for community activities and events. GreenThumb provides horticultural programming and material support to these gardens and hosts workshops in gardening, community organizing and farm-based education.
The Battery Conservancy volunteers are a vital part of the team at this historic park on the southern tip of Manhattan, home to the iconic landmarks and monuments, SeaGlass Carousel and 240,000 square feet of beautiful perennial gardens. Volunteers greet the public, answer questions and staff information tables during regular park hours, as well as pre-arranged group tours and special events. In addition to service-based rewards, volunteers earn advanced training and a membership in The Battery Conservancy.
